In this webinar, UCalgary researchers examine the types of data that companies, institutions and governments are collecting about us, how some organizations are monetizing that information, and why we need to be diligent in understanding the privacy and security implications of the digital tools we choose to use. About the Speakers

Dr. Thomas P. Keenan, Ed.D, is a professor in UCalgary's School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape, and an adjunct professor in the Department of Computer Science. Tom's research interests lie in information security, cyberwarfare, privacy and security, and the social implications of technology. His current research focuses on the positive and negative effects of technology adoption both in the developed and developing worlds, and how technology can be a driver for economic and social development.

Dr. Raymond Patterson, PhD, is Business Technology Management Area Chair and a professor in UCalgary’s Haskayne School of Business. He is also an adjunct professor in the Department of Accounting, Operations and Information Systems at the University of Alberta. His primary research interests include information systems, analytics and decision technologies.
