The quantum world holds many mysteries waiting to be solved and explained. UCalgary scholar Barry Sanders spends his time piecing together some of the puzzles related to quantum science.
In this webinar, Sanders explains his research on quantum information related to photons — the elementary particles underlying the properties of quantum mechanics — helping us understand some of the missing pieces.
About the Speaker
Dr. Barry Sanders, PhD, is a professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at UCalgary’s Faculty of Science and Director of the university’s Institute for Quantum Science and Technology. He is Editor-in-Chief of the New Journal of Physics and a Canadian Institute for Advanced Research Senior Fellow in quantum information science.
Barry is well known for seminal contributions to theories of quantum-limited measurement, highly nonclassical light, practical quantum cryptography and optical implementations of quantum information tasks. His current research interests include nonlinear quantum optics, algorithmic quantum simulation, coherent quantum transport in protein complexes and implementations of quantum information.
