Geoffrey Hay

Geoffrey Hay an associate professor in UCalgary's Department of Geography in the Faculty of Arts. He has more than 25 years’ experience in GIScience and is a recognized leader in GEographic-Object Based Image Analysis (GEOBIA). He was an Alberta Ingenuity New Faculty Scholar (2005-2008) and an ISEEE (Institute for Sustainable Energy, Environment, and Economy) Fellow (2011-2013). Geoffrey leads an active graduate and post-doctoral research program titled Thermal Remote Sensing and GEOBIA for Urban Energy Efficiency. He also co-directs the university’s eCognition Center of Excellence and the Foothills Facility for Remote Sensing and GIScience. He is the author of more than 240 scholarly works and has been a keynote speaker, organizer, chair or co-chair for numerous international conferences and committees. In 2013, Geoffrey's’s research team received the MIT Climate CoLab Grand Prize for the HEAT Geoweb project – the precursor to the MyHEAT start-up.
